  • For the baking soda bath: 2 quarts water, ¼ cup baking soda, 1 tablespoon honey
  • Coarse sea salt (for topping)

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, whisk together flour, brown sugar, yeast, baking powder, salt, warm water, egg, and butter until smooth.
  2. Let the dough rise in an oiled bowl covered with plastic wrap for about 1 hour until doubled.
  3. Preheat oven to 425°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  4. Divide risen dough into 12 pieces and roll each into a rope about 9 inches long. Shape into pretzel forms.
  5. Boil each pretzel in a baking soda bath for 10–15 seconds before placing on the baking sheet.
