  • 2 medium onions (sliced)
  • 1 cup chickpea flour
  • 1 Tbsp nutritional yeast (optional)
  • 3/4 tsp ground cumin
  • 3/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp ground turmeric
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 tsp lime juice (or lemon juice)
  • 1 green hot chili pepper (finely chopped)
  • 1 Tbsp parsley (chopped or cilantro)
  • 3 Tbsp coconut oil (for frying)

Instructions

  1. Slice the onions thinly and set aside.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine chickpea flour, nutritional yeast, cumin, salt, turmeric, water, lime juice, chili pepper, and parsley. Whisk until you achieve a medium-thick batter.
  3. Fold in the sliced onions until fully coated.
  4. Heat coconut oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  5. Drop spoonfuls of the batter-coated onions into the hot oil, frying about four at a time.
  6. Fry until golden brown and crispy, approximately 2-4 minutes on each side.
